Information We Collect
When you simply read articles on our site, we receive only standard server logs: your approximate location, browser type, the pages you viewed, and the time spent. No personal identification is attached to these logs unless you choose to interact further.
If you subscribe to our newsletter, leave a comment, or contact us directly, we collect the information you voluntarily provide: typically your email address, name (or nickname), and whatever you write in the message field. We do not ask for or store payment information, addresses, or phone numbers unless you explicitly send them to us in correspondence.
How We Use Your Information
The email address you give us for the newsletter is used exclusively to send you updates about new sun-focused guides, shoulder-season alerts, and occasional behind-the-scenes notes from the team. We send these sparingly, usually once or twice a month, and never share or sell the list to anyone else.
Messages sent through the contact form or directly to [email protected] are read only by our small team and are kept only as long as needed to reply or to improve the site. After that, they are permanently deleted.
Cookies and Analytics
We use a minimal, privacy-friendly analytics tool that anonymises your IP address before any storage takes place. We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting pixels, or social-media tracking of any kind. The only functional cookie we set is a tiny one that remembers if you’ve closed the newsletter pop-up so it doesn’t annoy you again.
Third Parties
Your data never leaves our own servers except for two strictly necessary services: a reputable European email-delivery provider (which is bound by the same strict rules we follow) and a basic cloud hosting company based in the United States. Both are contractually forbidden from using your information for anything other than delivering the service to us.
Your Rights
You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time with one click, and your address is erased immediately. You may also request a complete copy of any personal data we hold about you, or ask us to delete everything permanently. Just write to [email protected] and we will handle it within a few days, no questions asked.
Security
All connections to our site are encrypted with current TLS standards. Email lists are stored separately from the public website and protected by two-factor authentication. We run a small operation on purpose; fewer people and fewer systems mean fewer places for anything to go wrong.
Children
Our content is not directed at anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we ever discover such data has been submitted, it is deleted immediately.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever need to make a material change, we will announce it clearly on the site and via the newsletter well in advance. This policy was last updated on the date shown at the top.
